Copper Canyon Academy, a Therapeutic Boarding School for Girls, Promotes New Leadership
Rimrock, AZ (PRWEB) January 30, 2008 -- Copper Canyon Academy, an all-girl therapeutic boarding school located in Rimrock, Arizona, has announced that Paul Taylor will assume the executive director position effective March 1, 2008 when current executive director and founder, Tammy Behrmann, retires. The Academy, which celebrated its tenth anniversary last October, offers an accredited, college preparatory academic program in a nurturing environment to girls ages 14-17 with emotional, behavioral or learning problems.
"Copper Canyon Academy was established to provide an atmosphere where girls can turn their lives around and families can reconnect," said Behrmann. "I am so pleased with the school's success, and thankful to be leaving it in the very capable hands of my friend and colleague, Paul Taylor. His experience, passion and dedication will help the Academy reach new heights in the years ahead."
Taylor has been working in the residential therapeutic industry for over 18 years and joined Copper Canyon Academy in June 2001 as program director. Previously, he worked for Utah youth corrections programs in various capacities including teacher, intake coordinator, youth supervisor and group therapy facilitator. He has specialty training in behavior management, behavior consulting, assessments and testing, and vocational training. Taylor earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Sociology, and a Master of Science degree in Special Education from the University of Utah where he also earned distinction as a Comprehensive Behavior Specialist. In addition, he has a certificate in Special Education Teaching.
"I am delighted to accept the executive director position and appreciate the confidence Tammy has shown in me to lead a program that continues to mean so much to her," said Taylor. "I look forward to continuing Copper Canyon Academy's mission to create a warm, nurturing community that allows girls to develop self-esteem, awareness, confidence and accountability as they follow what we call the 'Trail to Success.'"
Copper Canyon Academy's "Trail to Success" focuses on the five aspects of a student's life -- emotional, mental, physical, spiritual and social -- that determine success. Licensed therapists and an experienced administrative team have combined college preparatory academics, a dynamic and diversified therapeutic program, life changing seminars and workshops, equine therapy and a structured, caring living environment to create an atmosphere that is conducive to change. The program engenders a community of warmth, respect, mutual cooperation, friendship, leadership and compassion for all students.

10 Things To Do Before Choosing A Boarding School For A Troubled Teen
1) Ask about their success rates. A quality program should have a systematic way of measuring success and should be able to provide information to interested parents about that success. If a school is reluctant about telling you their success rates or can only provide anecdotal evidence of program effectiveness, this is a fairly good indicator that the results aren?t too impressive. If you are quoted a statistic, be sure you understand what the number means. Some schools define success in very loose terms. Often ?success? actually means ?lack of failure,? or simply that a graduate hasn?t been arrested since leaving the program.
