Bromley Brook School, a Therapeutic Boarding School for Girls, Completes Licensing Process, Becomes Residential Child Care Facility

Manchester Center, VT (PRWEB) January 15, 2008 -- Bromley Brook School, a Vermont boarding school for girls ages 14-18, has completed the licensing process for the State of Vermont Department for Children and Families to become a Residential Child Care Facility.

In a report issued last month by the State of Vermont, the school is recognized for "staff (that) have been exceedingly cooperative and helpful?Bromley Brook had the required policies, procedures and practice in place? which resulted in an extremely smooth licensing process."

The licensing process began with an in-depth self-evaluation and enhancements of existing policies and procedures. The State of Vermont Family Services Division then visited the facility and completed a full review of the school's regulatory compliance, including standards of care, residential life, therapeutic services, health and medication practices, and human resources. The standards are set by the State of Vermont, and Bromley Brook was found to be in full compliance with every standard.

"Bromley Brook School is extremely proud to obtain licensure as a Residential Child Care Facility," said Laura Mack, the school's executive director. "We look forward to continuing our quest to help girls who have had difficulties in traditional school settings find success here and beyond."

Bromley Brook School opened in September 2004 with six young women enrolled in the founding class; currently, the school has an enrollment of 50 students. Bromley distinguishes itself from other all-girl boarding schools by focusing attention on personal exploration and the girls' unique learning styles. Teachers are particularly adept at working with young women who have not performed at their full potential in the past. After completing a comprehensive, research-based assessment, Bromley creates an individualized plan for each young woman's educational and personal growth needs. Time-honored traditions of all-girl boarding schools are further enhanced with in-depth family education and professional support.

Bromley Brook accepts teen girls ages 14-17 and offers a college preparatory curriculum as well as therapeutic support. The school maintains a rolling admissions policy, which means students can enroll at any point in the year.

10 Things To Do Before Choosing A Boarding School For A Troubled Teen
1) Ask about their success rates. A quality program should have a systematic way of measuring success and should be able to provide information to interested parents about that success. If a school is reluctant about telling you their success rates or can only provide anecdotal evidence of program effectiveness, this is a fairly good indicator that the results aren?t too impressive. If you are quoted a statistic, be sure you understand what the number means. Some schools define success in very loose terms. Often ?success? actually means ?lack of failure,? or simply that a graduate hasn?t been arrested since leaving the program.
